Home Information Packs have been suspended with immediate effect by the coalition Government, in an attempt to encourage people to sell their homes and increase activity within the property market.
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will still be legally required but, as long as it is commissioned, it will not need to be available before the property can go on market. As a result home sellers will be able to list their home without delay and transactions will go ahead smoothly. The seller must make sure that every 'reasonable effort' is made to obtain the HIP within 28 days.
