Estate agents are not claiming their businesses on Google Places

Research conducted by Move with Us show that Google Places is not used by a large number of estate agents to optimise their search results.

They found that just under half (46%) of estate agents are not taking advantage of this tool, by verifying their business on Google Places which then allows businesses to create a free listing online. Not only does it pinpoint an office location on Google Maps, but details are also displayed at the top of search result pages amongst the organic listings.

Owners simply have to verify their Google Places page and complete the information on the form to ensure that they are using the tool correctly.

Simon King, Move with Us Operations Director, said: “Google change the way local search results are displayed on a regular basis so it’s important to ensure that estate agents keep up with them. While no one knows what criteria Google uses to generate their search results and SEO is not an exact science, everything that we can do to help with generating higher organic search options should make a difference.

“This is a push by Google towards promoting local businesses and those estate agents with a correctly optimised place page could benefit greatly from this.”
