Most Brits expect house prices to rise
New research has indicated that the majority of Brits expect house prices to increase throughout 2012 according to houseladder.co.uk.
The Halifax Housing Market Confidence Tracker has shown that 29% of participants believe house prices will increase whereas 22% thought the housing market would take a negative turn throughout the coming year.
Halifax’s research means that the House Price Outlook balance has gained 9 points to +7 since October 2011. October’s report saw 28% of people expect to see a rise in house prices whereas 30% predicted a decline.
Housing Economist at Halifax, Martin Ellis noted: "The modest improvement in consumer confidence in the outlook for house prices reflects the resilience of the UK housing market over recent months in the face of a weak economic recovery and the deterioration in the outlook for both the UK and global economies."
